I do have a couple of stereos apart right now ('76 Buick 8 track/AM/FM and a '72 Chevrolet) that are silent on FM becuase of a bad limiter/quadriture detector. This is why I cut radio repairs off around 1970. It seems these similar modules are used on later 70s-early 80s DELCO radios and if it were a plain AM, it may be worth harvesting for a module, but the terminals may be different. What it is is pretty much a 2 transistor pre amp on a little wafer. I'll have to dig thorugh all my hen scratch files to find it. I took the lid off one a few years back and traced out the trace(!) and compared it to a 2 transistor audio amp on earlier DELCO radios that fed the power transistor. SOMEPLACE I have a diagram of what I think is one of these modules. I once had a '74 Olds stereo that had them-I know I sent to someone for parts (may have been you?) The radio was a killer on AM and FM stereo through a signal tracer, but I couldn't get the audio section to work. Sorry for the long post and thanks again.Ahhh DELCO modules-don't like 'em. Patience is goneĪfter 2 days ! BTW, this is a radio that Delco offered to it's employees in '59-it is non-automoble model with a style similar to Buick, but with a round GM badge over the speaker and no connector. Insulated inside of can, reassembled & aligned once more and put it together for awhile-can live with the dial tracking for now as long as I can get the Grand Ole Opry on 650. ![]() Remove can again when radio wouldn't work or align-must haveīeen solder fleck or something shorting can to winding. Small sleeve on coil form to retain the ferrite. Had to remove and disassemble IF can and superglue a ( signal level would drop when radio was turned face up and come back when turned over )-found after much grief that the outer ferrite had come unglued and was sliding up & down internally with position of radio, probably from alignment ( which was done faceĭown ).
